The Concept
Cala Mia is a beautiful, romantic, boutique hotel of barefoot elegance. The Hotel/Resort is located on the tip of a pristine island that runs into the Pacific Ocean, bordered by beautiful palm lined beaches.
With only 11 bungalow/suites, Cala Mia assures a low impact on the planet and the resort is completely solar powered. The bar-restaurant is built on the highest point of a small peninsula offering stunning views of the surrounding islands and promises gorgeous sunsets followed by big night skies dotted with millions of stars. A private beach, the 180 degrees infinitive edge freshwater pool, and a small island, accessible by hanging-bridge, which houses a spa, and yoga exercise area allows you to be immersed in sunshine and the sea.
At Cala Mia you can escape the world and join into nature, where you will find and experience birds, monkeys, dolphins, turtles and much more.
The Accommodations
The Bungalow Suites at Cala Mia are each designed as a small and elegant home. Each has its own 'rancho' seating area with a beautiful thatched roof, handcrafted columns, large sofa and hammocks, and a nicely decorated bathroom with hot water shower. All the Suites are less than 10 meters from the sea, with a wonderful view of the ocean and of the beautiful bays, islands, and surrounding nature. Some of them even have private access to the beaches.
Furniture, furnishings, etc. are specially designed by and made by local artists and artisans, with utmost care for detail. The airy suites are located in such a way that they take advantage of the lovely fresh evening breezes, making its ceiling-fans almost superfluous. Bedding choices are one King bed or two twins.
Dining
The restaurant/bar is built on the highest point of Boca Brava, offering stunning views of the surrounding islands and promising gorgeous sunsets followed by big night skies dotted with millions of stars. It is the perfect ambiance to be with old friends, new friends or just a romantic candle lit dinner for two.
Cala Mia tells us they have the finest kitchen in Chiriqui and many dishes feature ingredients from their own organic vegetable garden and farm.
