Islas Secas is a boutique resort amid 16 secluded
private tropical islands. Islas Secas is designed for active people
who appreciate
private, pristine surroundings, tasteful, comfortable accommodations
and excellent food and drink. Islas Secas offers the ultimate
adventure vacation in tranquil natural beauty with swimming,
snorkeling, fishing, whale watching, surfing, and more. Or
more can be less. Islas Secas can offer you time to pamper
yourself with a relaxing massage and professional spa services
and local gourmet cuisine. Your private island resort awaits
you.
Islas
Secas is open from December through April each year. The island is
about an hour-and-a-half private-plane flight from
Panama City.
You will be picked up and whisked off to the island private runway
as soon as you arrive in Panama and will be returned whenever you
are ready to leave.
The Accommodations
To ensure privacy and minimize impact to Las Secas’ pristine
environment, there are only 6 casitas (little house in Spanish).
Typically there are no more than 12 guests on the islands with an
equal number of staff members. The casitas are designed to be comfortable,
with low impact on the environment, and “yurts” were
chosen as the ideal compromise. Each casita is on an oceanfront cove
with views of the crystal-clear waters and the surrounding bays and
islands. All casitas have a queen bed, a mini-bar with ice cold drinks,
and a full bathroom. The largest casita has a fully equipped kitchen.

By design, none
of the casitas has phone, television, or radio. Meals are served in the
Cocina (kitchen in Spanish) which overlooks a large cove. Meals are delicious,
but simple, in keeping with the traditional Panamanian style which favors
chicken, fish, fruits, vegetables and other fresh, locally-sourced seasonal
delights. Meals can also be delivered to your casita with one-hour advance
notice.
The Activities
Once arriving at Las Secas, there is never a shortage of things to
do. There are beautiful reefs for snorkeling, scuba diving in
the deeper waters, or kayaking the calm bays to explore caves
and coves. Also incredible sport fishing and spear fishing are
just a boat ride away. Only 12 miles away, world famous Morro
Negrito offers reef and sand breaks that create perfect barrels
for surfers who are seeking a less crowded wave. Everyone from
the water-sport enthusiast to the adventurous hiker will find
this environment amazing. For those who'd rather sip an ice cold
cocktail on your private veranda as the sun sets and the fish
and dolphins play, just say the word.

Divers of all levels will enjoy the waters surrounding
Las Secas. The resort is PADI affiliated with resident instructors
and offers 'Resort' courses, full 'Open Water' certification courses,
and various specialty courses. Dive possibilities include soft coral,
hard coral and pelagics. Underwater visibility ranges from above
average to excellent and there are few currents. The island is surrounded
by deep water with large 'drop-offs', offering twenty-four dive sites
within fifteen minutes' travel.
Boat Excursions
include surfing, fishing, and snorkeling trips to the other islands.
Full-day professional sport fishing charters run $800 per day and
include all equipment, guide, bait and gourmet lunch and beverages.
A Socially and Environmentally Responsible Lodge
At Islas Secas we try to be as eco friendly as possible.
The resort runs on solar power. We organically grow many of our own
fruits and vegetables. All the water comes from natural aquifers
on the island and is pumped using solar power to the top of a hill
and gravity fed to all of the Casitas. All waste products are either
composted on site or are removed from the island. There is no landfill
or trash heap.
