Coiba National Park’s 38 islands offer a great ecological and marine diversity. The island is remote and relatively undeveloped with over 80% of its natural habitat intact. Coiba is a refuge for Crested Eagles and Scarlet Macaws, birds who have virtually disappeared from the rest of the Republic of Panama. Coiba also offers 20 endemic birds species including the Coiba Spinetail.

Panama is the only place in the world where both the Northern & Southern hemisphere populations of Humpback whales come together in their migrations to give birth and breed here in Panama! This gives us a double season and twice as much time as any other place in the world to spend with the whales.

106 souls of Emberá Puru live in traditional housing on the banks of the Rio San Juan de Pequeni. Here in the jungle the Emberá continue many of their traditions and culture, while incorporating aspects of the modern world. You may visit the village for a day or more, accompanied by Anne Gordon de Barrigon, an American woman who is married to an Embera' man from the village of Embera' Puru. She has a unique perspective as an American who is a full fledged tribe member.   The Embera' are beautiful people both inside and out and are very quick to smile and laugh.
